Frequently Asked Questions
Below are some of the inquiries we most often receive. If your question is not answered by a response below, don't hesitate to contact us.

Do you process Black and White?
CineFilm does not process Black and White Film. We suggest you contact the following labs with your B&W needs: Duart (NY) 212.757.4580, A-1 Film Lab (NY) 212.239.9530, or Colorlab (MD) 301.770.2128.

Do you process reversal?
We do not process Color Reversal film "normally". We can, however "cross-process" 7239, 7240, 7250, 7251, and 5285. Keep in mind that this produces a radically different image and does not offer long term viability on the cross-processed negative.

Do you transfer film to HD?
Yes. Please visit our services page for details and pricing.

Do you offer 16mm to 35mm blow ups?
CineFilm does not offer blow up service.

Should I ship my film for a Saturday delivery?
Please do not ship for a Saturday FedEx Delivery. We are not in the office to receive the package. You can however, ship via Delta Dash at anytime over the weekend. Mark your package "Hold for Pickup" and call us and leave your information including the airbill number. Our courier will pickup the package over the weekend.

What's the difference between a "Daily" and a "Scene to Scene" Transfer?
People sometimes use the terms "one light" or "best light" when referring to a film to tape transfer. These terms are film timing terms used when making prints. For film to tape transfer we do either a "Daily" or a "Scene to Scene". On a "Daily" the colorist will set up to your gray scale or color chart and will make color corrections "on the fly." "Daily" Transfers are typically used for editorial purposes when the client plans on transferring select takes in a final transfer. If you only plan on transferring your film one time, a "Scene to Scene" transfer is your best option. In this option the colorist can color correct every scene individually.

How can I estimate how much my project will cost?
If CineFilm is only processing your film, the cost is $.185 per foot. If we are transferring your film as well, we give you a discount to $.17 per foot. We do not charge tax. You can estimate a 2 to 1 ratio of transfer time to running time for a "Daily" and a 3 to 1 ratio of transfer time to running time for a "Scene to Scene". When syncing sound out of suite, we average about 30 takes per hour. For a customized estimate for your project, please contact us.

Can I have my film processed over the weekend?
We do not have a scheduled film processing run on Friday or Saturday night. A special run can be arranged if needed. Please contact us to arrange any special processing runs.
