How should I prepare my final edit on the FW drive for transfers?

We are currently running FCP HD Studio 2, v6 with the new ProRes codecs.
There are several ways that we can receive your media and edit from the FireWire Drives, but the recommended process is to create a Quick Time file version. After you finish your edit in the FCP timeline, be sure and render any multi-layer effects, then save it as a QT file without any additional compression than your native (current) edit format.        (EXPORT>QT MOVIE>CURRENT SETTINGS> be sure SELF-CONTAINED is checked)

[Avid users: EXPORT>QTMOVIE>SAME AS SOURCE>de-select the AVID DV CODEC button]

Having a final QT file will ensure that there are no media files missing once we receive your FW drive. Your master timecode will match your edit and be transferred to the final videotape. Also please create a folder named "Cinefilm" and place your final edit in there so we can find it quickly, should there be any other material on your drive.

If you are planning for us to color correct your edited piece, we will also need a copy of your final EDL saved to the FW drive also (save this in a FCP, GVC, or Sony fomat). This will allow us to cue to each scene in your final QT version instantly saving you time and money.

Also be sure to specify if your final piece is to be Up or Down converted and if there is any changes to the screen format (4:3 vs 16:9).
